Putting on the Ritz

St. Thomas
Back to the resort. We decided that we had the best beach, so into the water we went and swan and sunned. We saw a coconut floating in the bay and some small children were watching it. They told us it had a message that they were sending. Dale and I swam out and looked at it. On one side was the message "We are stranded on a deserted island. Follow the map and send Help!!". On the other side was a map that had a rough outline of the US with Atlantic and Pacific on it and the words "You are here" Then somewhere out where the Atlantic would be, there were these words "We are here". The last time we saw it was floating around the end of the bay into the channel. It is something David and Laura would do. If you happen to find it, you will know where they are stranded (I am trying to figure out how I can get stranded at Caneel Bay!!).
We caught the Ferry to St. Thomas and took a cab over the mountain to the Ritz Carlton - what a ride!! Checked in and I was happy.
Had lunch...
and went to the beach and pool. I got a little too much sun. This evening, we had dinner at the Bleuwater Restaurant here at the Ritz Carlton. We had to dress up for dinner (it is the primo restaurant on the property) - Dale did that without too much protesting. I had the Redfish and Dale had a steak (naturally). Again, fabulous cuisine.

Water, water everywhere
We have decided that the prettiest areas are on the northwestern side of the island, going from Caneel Bay to Maho Bay and include Hawksnest Bay, Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay beside Caneel and Maho Bays.

Snorkling and Sea Kayaks
The water and coral are just as pretty as we have seen in pictures. The boat ride was great (we were the only snorklers on the tour this morning, so we had great service).
Back at the resort, we feasted on local fare, then took a sea kayak through it's paces. We were good! We paddled all over the bay and swam at different beaches. Afterwards, we got our snorkling gear and went snorkling for a couple of hours - around the point to other beaches - saw the biggest starfish and conque shell ever. We finished off the activities with a good swim around the bay.
Went to Cruz Bay for dinner. Ate at a recommended Italian place called Da Livio - wonderful. I had the lobster ravioli - homemade - it was out of this world. Back to the resort for some sleep. Dale's birthday is tomorrow and we plan to rent a jeep and explore beaches around the island.

On The Beach
A short boat ride and a rum punch later, we arrived in paradise! Beautiful weather. We swam in our own private bay (Caneel Bay) - or least it feels like it. NICE. We dressed for dinner and toasted to our 30th taking in a tropical view of the national forest and St. Thomas night lights across the water. It's so beautiful and relaxing, the rooms make you feel like you are so private. CHEERS
